Inland navigation
Electronic Map

The RADARpilot 720 is the first certified integrated navigation system which unites common navigational instruments as the radar and the rate of turn indicator. Due to the combination of GPS and a powerful chart drawing engine the navigator has direct access to all necessary information. Therefore navigation with a maximum of safety is possible every time, even in difficult conditions like fog or at night.

Take a look at the screen shot which displays a upstream cruise on the river Rhine near Bingen:

The RADARpilot 720 displays within a digital river chart the river bank, the fairway, radar buoys, bridges, power lines, kilometer indicators and traffic signs. The RADARpilot 720 can be connected to all common radars for inland navigation. The radar image is overlayed over the chart. Due to modern navigation techniques the chart and the radar image are always oriented in the same way and are using the same scale / range. The interpretation of the radar image is therefore much easier. RADARpilot 720 detects automatically other vessels and marks them by orange speed vectors. Even in foggy conditions, on sight is enough to differ between an upstream and a downstream cruising vessel. Stationary objects as radar buoys are highlighted with a small cross.

Perfect Navigation

  • display of an official river chart (including all information necessary for navigation)
  • overlay of the radar image
  • display of the own vessel
  • precise determination of the position of the own vessel using GPS and radar processing
  • detection of other vessels and radar buoys
  • storage of image sequences for documentational purposes

Water depth

  • official soundings are included in the river charts
  • download of actual water levels and forecasts (ELWIS)
  • computation of the usable draught
  • computation and display of the navigable part of the water due to the actual loading

Load capacity

  • higher load due to optimal usage of the water depth, even in rarely cruised areas
  • higher profit with each cruise
